Dane Rashford, the sports agent and older brother of Manchester United star Marcus Rashford, has found himself in hot water after allegedly attacking his girlfriend. The incident reportedly occurred after Dane discovered messages from an unnamed Premier League player on his girlfriend’s phone. Dane has pled not guilty to charges of battery and is currently out on $1,500 bond.
The incident took place at the Kimpton Angler’s Hotel in Miami Beach, where British vacationers spotted a woman with a bloodied nose in the lobby. Police arrived at room 335 and heard a heated argument between Dane Rashford and his girlfriend, Andrea Pocrnja. According to reports, Dane had gone through her phone and found text messages from another male.
Pocrnja had visible injuries to her face and claimed that Dane had struck her twice with a closed fist. Dane then took her phone and a verbal argument ensued in their hotel room. Dane’s sister, Chantelle Maynard, who was babysitting their toddler at the time, witnessed the altercation but did not see Dane physically harm Pocrnja.
Dane was taken into custody while Pocrnja was moved to another hotel room for her safety. She received medical treatment for her injuries, but it is unclear if she was taken to the hospital. Dane has since submitted a plea of not guilty to the battery charges and is scheduled for an arraignment on November 27.
It is still uncertain whether Dane is still in the United States or if he has left the country. The Miami-Dade County police are attempting to contact Pocrnja but have been unable to reach her. Rashford’s bond was paid by his sister a week after his arrest, and he has been ordered to have no contact with Pocrnja.
This news comes shortly after Marcus Rashford’s red card in Manchester United’s recent Champions League match against Copenhagen. The forward caught an opponent with a high foot and was sent off in the first half. Additionally, Marcus Rashford faced criticism for going nightclubbing after his team’s defeat to City, with his manager Erik ten Hag deeming it unacceptable.
As the case unfolds, it remains to be seen how this incident will impact Dane Rashford’s personal and professional life.
